Two Dickens books in one volume. Though Hard Times is a well known part of the author's repertoire, Pictures From Italy may be less so. A travelogue written in 1846, it describes D ickens' tour of Genoa, Rome, and Naples with his family two years previously. What interests Dickens most is the colourful street life; on pp. 273-274 he witnesses a public beheading in Rome. Show more
