5V 6V miniature cartridge indicator series. The primary physical function of this heavy-duty illumination assembly is to provide distinct visual status feedback on commercial switchboards, avionics panels, and industrial logic control modules. The hardware assembly features a fully encapsulated, moisture-proof cylindrical tube body housing high-reliability internal incandescent filaments or high-density neon elements tailored to manage low-current logic warning loops. The front interface is equipped with a distinct, faceted stovepipe or dome lens layout configured in custom amber, green, or blue tinted transparent finishes to optimize lateral light dispersion and improve visual recognition across high-glare control rooms. The external body relies on a rear-facing dual-terminal pin layout designed to slip firmly into standardized instrument panel sockets or accept direct point-to-point chassis hand-soldering.Industry Equivalents (Cross-References)The Littelfuse 900 Series Indicators serve as the direct foundational design architecture, representing identical structural thread tolerances and clip-in outer barrel widths. The Dialight 507 Series Cartridge Indicators function as a universally adopted direct industry alternative, matching the low-profile slide-in barrel spacing parameters. The Chicago Miniature Lighting 5100 Series serves as a highly prominent drop-in commercial alternative, mirroring the front bezel dimensions and incandescent pin configurations. The Drake Micro-Lites Line functions as a secondary high-reliability substitute option, aligning directly with identical structural grounding boundaries across defense instrumentation backplanes.History of the ComponentThe lineage of this component belongs to Littelfuse Inc., a legendary industrial giant founded by Edward V. Sundt in 1927 that revolutionized circuit protection before expanding into ruggedized cockpit and control room indicator lighting arrays. Littelfuse engineered the "Littel-Lites" family during the peak mid-to-late 20th-century computing and aerospace expansion to satisfy the massive demand for modular status lights. Before the development of modern miniature cartridge systems, field engineers had to dismantle complex dashboard panels just to swap out a single burnt-out bulb, creating severe maintenance downtimes. Littelfuse solved this challenge by packaging the bulb, resistor, and lens into a single self-contained cartridge plug, allowing field mechanics to pull out a dead light module and snap in a new one in seconds. As the electronics sector fully migrated toward solid-state LED panel-mount modules in the 1990s and 2000s, standard incandescent cartridge assemblies were slowly phased out of new-equipment builds. Today, original new-old-stock (NOS) Littelfuse configurations remain managed across industrial maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) clearinghouses to support vintage control panels worldwide.Actual Product Applications (Makes and Models)The Honeywell TDC 2000 Industrial Process Control Systems integrated these miniature Littel-Lites across their central operator consoles to flag active safety relay cycles and pipeline flow warnings. The Collins Radio Aerospace Transceiver Command Panels utilized these specific cartridge blocks within their primary radio frequency selection matrices to cleanly illuminate active channel loops under extreme operational conditions. The Foxboro Spec 200 Automation Rack Enclosures regularly employed these indicators directly along their front-facing diagnostics grids to give field technicians immediate visual validation of system power bus stability - Voltage RatingNominal Rating: 5.0 to 6.0 Volts DC.Operational Context: The code string "06" within the suffix explicitly dictates the factory voltage configuration. It is built to interface directly with mid-to-late 20th-century 5V TTL logic computing rails and power distribution buses, providing localized visual fault and status feedback without requiring external voltage-dropping resistors.📉 Current (Amperage) RatingNominal Rating: 40 to 60 mA (0.04A to 0.06A).Operational Context: Because it utilizes a sub-miniature incandescent filament rather than a modern LED, the current draw is minimal. It is optimized to pull minimal power from the master motherboard bus, preventing system overloads while remaining bright enough to be visible across standard factory ambient lighting environments.
