Improve the reliability of electrical and electronic connections with Stabilant 22, a specialized contact enhancer from D.W. Electrochemicals. Unlike an ordinary contact cleaner or conventional lubricant, Stabilant 22 is an electrically active material designed to remain within mating electrical contacts and improve connection reliability without creating conductive paths between adjacent contacts. This 5 mL Field Kit provides concentrated Stabilant 22 along with applicators for precise use on electrical contacts and connectors. The concentrate can be used directly where appropriate or diluted with high-purity isopropyl alcohol or pure ethanol to make it easier to carry into difficult-to-reach contacts. Features & Benefits Genuine Stabilant 22 concentrate 5 mL Field Kit Electrically active contact enhancer Improves reliability of electrical connections Normally non-conductive between adjacent contacts Becomes conductive within the microscopic contact interface Remains resident within treated contacts Very low vapor pressure minimizes evaporation Can be used concentrated or diluted for easier application Useful for existing connection problems and preventative maintenance Excellent for electronics, connectors, switches, and service work Made in Canada by D.W. Although the material has some detergent and lubricating properties, its primary purpose is to increase the reliability of electrical contacts. Applied as a thin film within a contact pair, Stabilant 22 is initially non-conductive. In the microscopic areas where electrical contact is made, the material responds to the electrical field and becomes conductive while remaining non-conductive between adjacent contacts. This allows it to improve electrical connection reliability without bonding the contacting surfaces together. Ideal for Intermittent Electrical Connections Oxidation, contamination, vibration, aging, and microscopic irregularities between mating contacts can contribute to intermittent or unreliable electrical connections. Stabilant 22 is designed to remain within the contact interface and improve the electrical connection between the mating surfaces. It can be particularly useful when troubleshooting intermittent connector-related problems in older electronic and electromechanical equipment. Suitable for Many Connector Types Stabilant 22 can be used on many types of electrical and electronic contacts, including: Card-edge connectors Multi-pin connectors D-type connectors Socketed components Signal switches Equipment connectors Electronic module connections Instrument connections Electromechanical contacts Automotive electrical connectors Vintage electronic equipment Camera and projector electronics Concentrated or Diluted Application Stabilant 22 is supplied as a concentrate. For exposed contacts where direct application is practical, only a very small amount of concentrate is required. For recessed connectors, sockets, and other difficult-to-reach contacts, the concentrate can be diluted with high-purity isopropyl alcohol or pure ethanol. The alcohol acts as a carrier, helping the Stabilant reach the contact surfaces before the alcohol evaporates and leaves the active Stabilant behind. A commonly used field dilution is four parts alcohol to one part Stabilant 22 concentrate. Apply Sparingly More is not necessarily better when using Stabilant 22. Apply only enough material to create a thin film at the mating contact surfaces. The goal is to place the Stabilant within the electrical contact interface rather than flood the connector or surrounding equipment. When using a diluted solution, allow the carrier alcohol to evaporate as appropriate before returning the equipment to service. Long-Lasting Contact Treatment Stabilant 22 has a very low vapor pressure, so there is little loss of the active material through evaporation once it has been applied. This allows the material to remain at the contact interface for extended periods rather than behaving like a temporary evaporating contact treatment. Useful for Repair & Preventative Maintenance Stabilant 22 isn't limited to troubleshooting an existing intermittent connection. It can also be applied during appropriate equipment service and connector maintenance to help improve long-term contact reliability. This makes the 5 mL Field Kit particularly useful for electronics technicians, repair shops, automotive electrical work, camera and projector service, audio equipment, computers, instrumentation, and restoration work. How much Stabilant 22 is included? This Field Kit contains 5 mL of Stabilant 22 concentrate. Is Stabilant 22 a contact cleaner? No. Although it has some detergent action, Stabilant 22 is sold as a contact enhancer, not as a conventional contact cleaner. Is Stabilant 22 conductive?Stabilant 22 is normally non-conductive. When used as a thin film within mating electrical contacts, it becomes conductive in the microscopic contact areas under the influence of the electrical field while remaining non-conductive between adjacent contacts. Can Stabilant 22 be diluted?Yes. The concentrate can be diluted with high-purity isopropyl alcohol or pure ethanol when a thinner solution is desirable for carrying the material into connectors and difficult-to-reach contacts. What dilution ratio can I use?A commonly used field mixture is four parts alcohol to one part Stabilant 22 concentrate. What happens to the alcohol after application? The alcohol serves as a carrier. It evaporates after application, leaving the active Stabilant 22 at the contact surfaces. Can I use the concentrate without diluting it?Yes. The concentrate can be used directly in applications where its viscosity and application method are appropriate. Can it be used on multi-pin connectors?Yes. Stabilant 22 is specifically useful for many multi-pin and other electrical connector applications because it remains normally non-conductive between adjacent contacts. Can it be used for preventative maintenance?Yes. Stabilant 22 can be used both to address unreliable electrical contacts and as part of appropriate preventative maintenance. Where is Stabilant 22 made?It is manufactured in Canada by D.W. Electrochemicals. SKU: 22 UPC: 014891168282 Brand: D.W.
