Description The drive belt represents one of the most critical performance links in your Polaris vehicle—the link between the engine and high performance. The drive belt, also known as a CVT belt (continuously variable transmission belt), is a key component of ATV, UTV and SxS transmission systems. They are developed and tested on all our engines for all environments and conditions. Our belts are designed, engineered and tested by Polaris Engineers and field test crews to ensure they deliver a perfect fit, high performance and excellent durability. Nothing else comes close. WHY REPLACE YOUR BELT? An old or damaged belt may damage other components in the clutch box, and a worn belt will cause jerky drive-away, false misfire and accelerated wear of clutch bushings. When to Replace Your Belt If you find cracks, loose cords, or missing cogs, if drive-away and engagement has gotten “jerky”, or any “hour-glassing” where a section has worn narrower, it’s time for a new belt. How to break in your belt Inspect and clean debris from the clutch covers, ducting and engine compartment. Remove any rubber residue from sheaves by scuffing with a pad. Clean sheaves with evaporating degreasing solvent like rubbing alcohol, or brake cleaner. Finish by driving in low gear and avoid high RPMs for first 5 miles (8 km) MINIMUM of operation. Why buy Polaris? Polaris engineered parts are designed, engineered and tested to the exact specifications of your Polaris vehicle ensuring compatability and optimal performance. Aftermarket Belts: Run hotter, and oversized aftermarket cogs fail due to over-travel into drive clutch creating higher heat Standard/cheap poly blends result in cord snaps Weaker cord adhesion Inferior length tolerance Lower Flexability Polaris Belts: Strongest premium aramid fiber cord Max strength proprietary cord adhesion Manufactured to exacting tolerances Maximum deformation resistances Maximum flexibility Overview & Specs OEM Performance: Polaris Engineered CVT Belts are designed and tested to run cooler—even at high RPMs—delivering excellent heat resistance and dissipation. High Strength: Lowest tolerance available (0.188-inch) means Polaris CVT Belts have the least variation allowed in width and length, resulting in consistently higher performance. Durable Materials: Polaris Drive Belts are made from Aramid to provide high strength and long-lasting reliability. They are developed and tested on all our engines for all environments and conditions. Extensive Testing: Polaris Belts receive 40,000 miles of field testing, thousands of dyno hours, 18+ months of development (13,000+ design hours) per CVT belt, 1500+ vehicle validation hours, and collaboration with powertrain and clutch engineers.
