In 1954, Leo Fender made some changes to the Telecaster pickups. Smaller diameter (0.187 inch) magnets were used to bring the pole pieces for the 3rd and 4th strings closer to the strings. The result is powerful, clear high notes, producing a bright, sharp tone. The STL-1 faithfully reproduces that vintage sound.
