In 1960, Leo Fender introduced a circuit in his Bandmaster and Vibrasonic amplifiers that he called "harmonic tremolo" (although this was later found to be a misnomer, as it turned out to be a volume effect, not a pitch effect). By splitting the amp signal into high and low frequencies and switching the output, you can achieve dreamy effects like Uni-Vibe. The 3 SeriesHarmonic Tremolo puts Leo Fender's revolutionary effect into a package that's much more portable than a vintage amplifier. The toggle switch in the up position gives you a great sounding amp tremolo (a tremolo that increases or decreases the signal), while the toggle switch in the down position gives you a harmonic tremolo effect.
