While studying at the Kunitachi College of Music, he made his debut in 1969 as the founding saxophonist of the Yamashita Yosuke Trio, and pursued free jazz. After leaving the band, he went to the United States in 1978 to study under George Coleman. After returning to Japan, he appeared on the TV show "Tonight is the Best!" featuring Tamori, and through a wide range of jazz genres, saxophone, and clarinet, he has blazed through the passionate, free, diverse, and humane world of Showa-era Japan, and remains a true jazzman to this day.
