Analog 16 x 18 I/O, Optical x 2 I/O, Thunderbolt 4/USB 4/AVB connections, ESS SABRE 32DAC Audio Interface, Digital Mixer, and Patch Bay The second-generation 16A has been completel y redesigned in terms of sound, functionality, and connectivity. The renowned and highly acclaimed ESS Technology Sabre32 DAC delivers 125dB of dynamic range and extremely low THD. The 16A's analog performance is the best of MOTU's decades of engineering expertise in audio interface development. Thunderbolt and USB connectivity compatible with Mac, PC, and iOS The 16A is the first audio interface ever to offer cutting-edge Thunderbolt 4 and USB4 connectivity for Mac, PC, and iOS. When connected to a host device via the included 40 Gbps USB-C cable, the 16A delivers the fastest connection speeds possible—up to 40 Gbps—while remaining backward compatible with Thunderbolt 3, USB3, and USB2 connections. The Thunderbolt and USB4 connections provide an astounding 256 channels of computer I/O (128 inputs / 128 outputs) at sample rates up to 96 kHz. ◆Process 66 channels of audio simultaneously With 16 balanced/unbalanced TRS analog inputs and outputs, two 8-channel ADAT optical ports, and a separate stereo headphone output, for a total of 32 channels of input and 34 channels of output, the 16A can be used to expand your computer's analog I/O, or as a flexible and comprehensive patchbay and mixer—or both! ◆Ultra-low latency performance Optimized for both Mac and PC, the 16A delivers the ultra-low latency that distinguished MOTU engineers are renowned for: an astonishing 1.8 ms round-trip latency over Thunderbolt/USB when using a high-performance DAW like Digital Performer at 96 kHz sample rate with a 32-sample host buffer. ◆ Easily achieve high-capacity bandwidth by simply connecting The 16A can be daisy-chained with up to six Thunderbolt devices and connected to a host computer with massive 40Gbps bandwidth, allowing for hundreds of audio channels, 8K video, terabytes of hard drive storage, and more. A 2m Thunderbolt 4 compatible USB-C cable is included as standard. ◆64-channel mixing with 32-bit floating-point precision The 16A features a built-in 64-channel mixer designed like a large mixing console. The 64 input channels can take signals from any location: the 16A interface's physical inputs, computer audio channels, audio network streams, or mixer outputs. The mixer features 26 aux buses, plus main, reverb, monitor, and solo buses. All input and output buses feature a 4-band parametric EQ and compressor. Additionally, input channels feature a high-pass filter and gate, providing a full range of mixing console functionality for a capable and transparent sound. Patchbay Routing and Splitting: Easily route any source signal to any destination using intuitive virtual patch cords. Sources include your interface's analog or digital inputs, computer channels, mixer bus outputs, and audio streams from other devices on your network. Destinations include your interface's outputs, host software inputs, mixer inputs, and other devices (or computers) on your network. You can also split a single source (or stereo pair) to an unlimited number of destinations. Flexible System Expansion: The audio networking era is pushing the boundaries of possibilities. The 16A features a built-in AVB switch with two Gigabit Ethernet ports, allowing multiple 16A units to be daisy-chained together using standard network cables. Connecting an additional AVB switch also extends the network, allowing for ultra-low latency networking with multiple interfaces and computers, even over long cable runs (hundreds of meters). Each 16A sends and receives 128 channels of audio signals to and from the network. The second-generation 16A also maintains compatibility with previous-generation MOTU AVB devices. - The second generation 16A is AVB compatible with all other MOTU AVB interfaces (Milan compatible). - 256 channels of host computer I/O (128 in / 128 out) via Thunderbolt or USB3/USB4 connections. - 256 channels of network audio I/O (128 in / 128 out) with simultaneous processing of 16 8-channel streams. - Each audio stream can be individually configured between 1 and 8 audio channels. - Connect multiple PC hosts on the network, and each host can send and receive data to all devices and other hosts. - Existing Ethernet cabling can be utilized. Devices can be connected simply by replacing the Ethernet switch with an AVB-compatible switch. - Shared operation with standard Ethernet devices such as wireless routers and switches. - 1722.1 support for connection management and operation. - Supports AAF stream format and legacy AM8-24 format, configurable per stream. - Gigabit Ethernet speeds support more devices on your network. ◆Control everything from your laptop, tablet, or smartphone CueMix Pro is the complete dedicated application for controlling the 16A, including device settings, signal routing, and 64 channels of mixing and effects. Compatible with macOS, Windows, and iOS, CueMix Pro can run on multiple devices simultaneously, and you can access the 16A wirelessly over Wi-Fi. As a 1722.1 controller, you can also use CueMix Pro to access AVB-related settings on third-party equipment on the network. ◆CueMix Pro for iOS Control all settings and mixing from your host PC or your iPhone or iPad running the CueMix Pro app*, even using multiple iOS devices simultaneously. *CueMix Pro iOS app will be available soon on the Apple App Store. Meter View: No optical I/O? Or no analog I/O? The 16A lets you customize the meter view that best suits your workflow: analog I/O only, digital I/O only, or any other combination. ◆Start creating music right away with the included DAW, virtual instruments, and loops Connect the 16A to your Mac or PC and start creating music with the included PerformerLite production software. In addition to production software, it also includes hundreds of loops, one-shots, and sounds from industry leaders Big Fish Audio, Lucidsamples, and Loopmasters (available for download after registration).
