This special car is made from the rare, high-quality "KOA" wood native to Hawaii. Enjoy the beautiful, exotic grain of this tropical wood. This limited edition dw snare drum features an old-style VLT shell and is crafted from rare koa wood for a 7-inch deep finish. DW's signature series, Collector's Pure Maple, is handcrafted with passion and imagination in Oxnard, California. The finest materials, legendary craftsmanship, and hand-applied finishes bring drummers' dreams to life. -PURE MAPLE Wood Shells- Maple, the most popular hardwood for drums, offers maximum resonance, projection, and attack. Combined with reinforced hoops, it produces a more focused sound, making it ideal for live and studio use. -KOA- Koa is a wood native to Hawaii. Koa, which means "courage" or "brave" in Hawaiian, is revered as a sacred tree in Hawaii and is known as a high-quality wood for musical instruments such as the ukulele. Because it grows only on the island of Hawaii, the Hawaiian state government currently strictly restricts the harvesting and export of koa, making it a rare wood with limited distribution. -Specialized Shell Configuration (SSC)- The combination of wood grain direction has a big impact on the sound. To create the perfect drum, DW stacks plies cut with different grain directions—vertical, horizontal, and diagonal (X-shell)—to lower the shell's fundamental pitch and maximize resonance. Various ply combinations are available, allowing you to choose the one that best suits your preferred sound. -VLT- The VLT (Vertical Low Timber) shell is a shell in which the vertical plies are arranged in a position where they are less under tension, resulting in a lower pitch than a regular shell and a low-tuned sound with good sustain and attack. In a VLT shell, the outermost and innermost plies are arranged longitudinally rather than horizontally as in the conventional case. The straight grain puts less tension on the shell, allowing it to vibrate more freely, resulting in a lower fundamental pitch. -Woods- DW offers the finest woods selected from around the world for the construction of its drums. -Bearing Edge- Collector's Series shells are precision-cut with 45-degree (toms) and 60-degree (bass and snare) bearing edges, providing tone and sustain on the toms and depth and punch on the bass and snare. -MAG throw-off & 5P (five position) butt plate- The MAG throw-off features a built-in magnet and horizontal tension adjustment for smooth and easy adjustment. Prevents loosening during performance. The 5P (Five Position) butt plate allows you to adjust the snare wire tension in five positions, providing the drummer with the optimal snare sound. -True-Pitch 50 Tuning Rods- The pitch is finer than that of a typical tension rod, allowing for finer tuning.
