The Ac rolite model, which was introduced in the 1960s as Ludwig's entry-level model and is still popular today for its light, aluminium shell sound, is now available as an overseas-only model not listed in the catalog. This model incorporates parts from the so-called "Supraphonic" snare drums such as the LM400 and LM402, which are said to be basic models of snare sounds that every professional drummer owns! The soft, open sound of the Acrolite and the light, clear sound of the Supraphonic are combined, and the hammering on the shell surface adds a calm, tight sound, making this a well-balanced drum kit companion.
