This compact pedal, a collaboration between MXR engineers and Eddie Van Halen, delivers a rich yet smooth high-gain overdrive sound. While the EQ controls appear similar to those o f a standard pedal, they're carefully tuned to optimize the frequency range needed to recreate Eddie's signature sound. It also features the same gate circuit as the MXR "SMART GATE," a favorite of Eddie himself. This helps maintain tight playing even at high volumes. The footswitch is true bypass. *This unit has extremely high gain characteristics, so in order to prevent destructive loud switching noise, the signal is momentarily dropped to ground to create silence, minimizing switching noise.
