Since its release in 1954, the Fender Stratocaster has remained a beloved model among guitarists worldwide. When people think of electric guitars, this is the shape that comes to mind for many. This latest arrival is a large-head Stratocaster shipped around 1970. Early CBS logo models, featuring the prominent "WITH SYNCHRONIZED TREMOLO" inscription, are highly valued and popular in the market. This particular instrument is in player's condition, with some pickup modifications. 【body】 The total weight is approximately 3.6 kg. The body is made of alder. The finish used during this period was "Fender Thick-Skin High-Gloss," which uses polyester as a base coat. The 3-tone sunburst color features a distinctive brownish gradient on the top surface, with the reddish tones fading nicely. The reddish tones remain well-preserved on the back. Below the rear pickup position, there are traces of a routing for a humbucker. The pickguard, which tends to shrink with age, has been replaced. Overall, there are characteristic weather checking typical of the Thick-Skin finish, small dents, and some tarnishing on the metal parts, but considering its age, it is in very good condition. The bridge unit has been replaced. Other parts such as the pickup covers and control knobs have also been replaced. 【neck】 The neck is made of maple with a beautiful, shimmering grain. The fingerboard is made of rosewood. There is some tarnishing on the metal parts and some minor dents around the headstock, but like the body, it is in very good condition. The tuners are Fender F-key tuners, and although there is some slight variation in the winding, they function properly. The frets and nut have been replaced once and currently show very little wear, resulting in good playability. The headstock thickness is 15.6mm. The nut width is 41.0mm. It features a very sturdy neck shape. [Electrical System] The controls are in the orthodox Stratocaster style: 5-way pickup selector, master volume, neck (front) position tone, and center position tone. The pickups have been replaced with the "Fat 50s Strat Set," hand-wound pickups by Josefina Campos, the Fender Custom Shop's master pickup winder, who is known for being difficult to obtain. Other parts such as the potentiometers, switch, and tone capacitor have also been replaced. Based on the excellent response that makes the most of the old materials, the front and center positions are warm and clear, while the rear position is fat and has a great bite.
