The Les Paul Custom, which debuted in 1954 as a Les Paul model aimed at jazz musicians, boasted the luxurious looks of the high-end archtop guitars of the time. After many twists and turns, it has become a legendary guitar beloved by rock musicians and remains immensely popular today. This time, we have a guitar that was shipped around 1970, after minor changes were made to the 1968 re-release. It is in excellent condition with the fretless wonder still intact. 【body】 The total weight is approximately 4.4 kg. The body is made of a maple top and a mahogany back with a pancake construction. The Les Paul Custom is often associated with its ebony black color, and this guitar has a very cool, rugged look. While there is weather checking and minor dents appropriate for its age, as well as some peeling and tarnish on the gold parts, the body binding and the glossy finish are in good condition, and considering its age, it can be said to be in very good condition. 【neck】 The neck is a three-piece mahogany with a volute. The fingerboard is made of precious ebony. While there is some weather checking at the back of the neck, weather checking around the headstock inlay, and some minor dents around the headstock, like the body, it is in excellent condition considering its age. The engraving includes the serial number, "MADE IN USA," and the "2" marking for second-condition status at the time of purchase. The tuners are Kluson VX-501 waffle pegs, which function well with little variation in winding. The frets are the original Fretless Wonder frets, in excellent condition with only minor wear. There is a chip in the nylon saddle for the 6-string. The nut width is 43.0mm. The sturdy neck shape is one of this guitar's charms. [Electrical system] The controls are the familiar Les Paul model: 3-way pickup selector, 2-volume, and 2-tone. The pickups show no signs of having been removed, and the original T-top numbers with decal stickers remain intact. The capacitors are Sprague Black Beauty, a bonus. The pickups and other controls are in excellent condition, remaining as they were when they were first installed. The guitar boasts a rich, natural tone with pleasant overtones and a rich, wood-backed body, complemented by a crisp, lustrous clean tone and a powerful, driven sound. This is a truly rare instrument, allowing you to experience the original tone of the era, including the Fretless Wonder.
