A rare, lightweight example! This vintage 14-inch Istanbul K Hi-Hat is believed to have been manufactured between 1959 and 1966! We have received a hi-hat cymbal that appears to have been manufactured between 1959 and 1966, based on the stamp "Intermediate." The actual measured diameter of both is approximately 35.4 cm, so we can safely recommend this pair as 14-inch size. The hole diameter is approximately 11mm, which is smaller than modern cymbals. There were no problems using it with a YAMAHA hi-hat stand or hi-hat clutch. It may be difficult to install on some stands and hi-hat clutches, such as those made by Pearl. This is a very rare and lightweight pair, with both the top and bottom weighing in the 700g range.Unusually for this age, the top and bottom fit together perfectly, with almost no misalignment. When closed, it produces a modest, rustic, rounded stick sound without any hardness. The light, dry half-open sound, with a moderately mellow and smooth impression, is very pleasant, and it also produces a crisp, light chick sound. The foot splash also produces a gentle yet vibrant sound. The overall volume is modest, and there's very little harsh or piercing high frequencies, making it a truly "familiar" hi-hat sound that's perfect for acoustic sessions. The rich and elegant sound that is consistent from closed to open without any harshness is the true essence of Old K. This is a set that allows you to fully enjoy the delicate yet mellow sound that can only be found in lightweight vintage hi-hats.
