Since its release in 1960, the Jazz Bass has been a flagship model for Fender, alongside the Precision Bass, and continues to influence the music scene. Numerous variations and reissue models have been produced by the original manufacturer, as well as inspired models by it from other companies, solidifying its position as a standard model for electric basses. This particular guitar, shipped around late 1974, features an alder body, a four-bolt one-piece maple neck, a finger rest on the 4th string side, and a printed tortoiseshell pickguard. 【body】 The total weight is approximately 4.3kg. The body is made of alder. The finish is the "Fender Thick-Skin High-Gloss" finish unique to this period, and the 3-tone sunburst color with a strong reddish tint is beautiful. The finger rest is a printed tortoiseshell pickguard on the 4th string side, a specification unique to this period. There are minor dents and scratches, paint peeling mainly on the body sides, and tarnishing on the pickguard and metal parts, giving it the feel of a vintage instrument. Some metal parts are missing. The pickguard screws and control panel screws have been replaced with new ones. 【neck】 The neck and fingerboard are made of one-piece maple. The neck has desirable features such as flame grain on the headstock and birdseye grain on the back of the neck. There are some minor dents on the fingerboard and back of the neck, and some tarnishing on the metal parts, but considering its age, it is in relatively good condition. The tuners are fully functional, although there is some slight variation in the tightness of the winding. The nut has been replaced by our shop, and the frets have been leveled, resulting in good playability. The headstock thickness is 13.6mm, and the nut width is 38.2mm. It features a sturdy neck shape despite the narrow width characteristic of an A-neck. [Electrical System] The controls are the standard Jazz Bass wiring [2 volume/1 tone]. While some repairs have been made, such as resoldering of the potentiometer connections and the addition of a ground wire between the potentiometers, the parts, including the pickups, remain in their original condition. The combination of the alder body and one-piece maple neck, along with the characteristics of the six-skin finish, results in an impressive sound with a fast attack, a tight low end, and a solid low-mid. The neck pickup produces a thick, sustained tone, while the bridge pickup delivers a crisp, bright sound, and when mixed, you can enjoy a clear, punchy slap tone reminiscent of the 70s. It can be said that this sound character, with its punch and definition, supported the music scene of the mid-1970s when funk, crossover, and rock were flourishing.
