Ludwig's flagship professional drum line, Legacy Maple, is handcrafted at Ludwig USA in Monroe, North Carolina. The shell is made of a 3-ply construction of maple + poplar + maple with a solid maple reinforcement ring. This shell design debuted in 1968 and symbolized the second generation of Ludwig's traditional 3-ply shell. Although it was a short-lived design that only lasted until 1976, its sound has been recorded in numerous legendary performances that have left their mark on music history. The series subsequently gained a passionate following and led to its return to the forefront of Ludwig's professional drum line. The Legacy series, which produces a pure and balanced sound, revives the distinctive sound that set the standard for popular music throughout the 20th century.
