Following the success of the Jazzmaster, which saw increased sales during the surf music boom of the 1950s, Fender released the Jaguar in 1962 as their top-of-the-line guitar. Initially, it enjoyed many custom color orders and successfully capitalized on the trend, boosting sales. However, its characteristics proved unsuitable for the rock music that later became globally popular, and production ceased in the mid-1970s. Since then, the emergence of charismatic figures representing grunge and alternative music has brought renewed attention to the Jaguar, and it continues to exude a strong presence while seamlessly blending into today's diverse music scene. This is a fantastic guitar produced around 1971, featuring a custom Lake Placid Blue body, a laminated maple fingerboard, black binding, and black block position markers—rare specifications for that era. 【body】 The total weight is approximately 3.9 kg. The body is made of alder. The finish used during this period was "Fender Thick-Skin High-Gloss," which uses polyester as a base coat. The first thing that catches the eye is the rare custom color "Lake Placid Blue," a deep metallic blue typical of old Fender guitars. Although there is some weather checking and minor scratches commensurate with its age, it is in remarkably good condition considering its age. Many of the original accessories remain, making it an excellent collector's item. 【neck】 The neck is made of maple, and the fingerboard is made of laminated maple. It's noteworthy that this model features black neck binding and black block position markers, a relatively rare specification for this model, although these are commonly seen on Jazz Basses. The neck area has minimal damage and, like the body, is in excellent condition. It's equipped with Fender "F-Key" tuners. While there's some slight variation in the tightness of the windings, they function properly. The frets and nut show some overall wear, but there are no extreme dents, and playability is good. The headstock thickness is 16.8mm, and the nut width is 40.7mm. It features a slightly narrower B-neck with a relatively clean neck shape. [Electrical System] The controls are as follows: Main side [Neck (front) pickup ON/OFF switch / Bridge (rear) pickup ON/OFF switch / Low-cut switch] [Master volume / Master tone], Preset side [Preset ON/OFF switch / Preset volume / Preset tone]. It is equipped with two original gray bottom pickups. The 24-inch scale provides a unique, crisp tone with shorter sustain, a sharp, tight attack, and sparkling highs. Combined with the light, clear tone provided by the low-cut switch, it delivers a rich Fender sound with excellent response and rich harmonics that fits surf/garage and even 70s rock cutting.
