7-Day Utah Paramotor Adventure Tour
7-Day Utah Paramotor Adventure Tour Get ready for an action packed 7-day paramotor adventure through the most jaw-dropping terrain Utah has to offer. During this tour, you’ll fly o ver rugged 12,000-foot peaks, skim along the edges of thousand foot red-rock canyons, and experience the kind of scenery people only ever see in photos. This isn’t just a sightseeing tour, it’s an opportunity to check unforgettable flights off your bucket list while building skill, confidence, and real-world experience adventure flying. You'll come for the views and leave with memories that'll last a lifetime. During the tour you’ll also receive hands-on instruction about reading weather, wind, rotor, and the other conditions that can make or break adventure flying. Our team of instructors will be with you every step of the way—helping you make smart decisions, sharpen your judgment, and build the confidence. We will push you out of your comfort zone but will never put you in a situation you’re not prepared to handle. Throughout the 7-days, we plan to spend several nights camping under the stars in more remote locations and recommend you do the same. This means better flying opportunities—and access to places that would be difficult to reach from a hotel by sunrise. We recommend you come prepared to camp for a few nights, and don’t worry—we’ll bring the grill and coolers, so there’ll be hot coffee in the morning, cold drinks when we land, and steaks on the grill at night. Because great flying is even better when the steaks are cooked to perfection, and the drinks are ice cold. That being said, if you're ok with a 1-2 hour drive in the morning to an LZ, you will be able to find lodging at each of the flying locations. We will for sure be withing that distance of a hotel/airbnb. This adventure begins and ends just outside Salt Lake City, Utah—but everything in between is up to us. With more than 300 LZ's to choose from all across Utah, our route will be determined based on the best weather conditions and coolest terrain. And Utah gives us plenty to chase, because in a single day, we could fly over dense forests, sweep through high mountain valleys, and finish above towering red-rock canyons. Our days are simple: fly in the mornings, travel during the afternoon, and fly again in the evenings when the air settles down. We have a rough seven-day plan we will try to follow, but it’s not carved in stone and if the weather is better somewhere else, that’s where we’ll go. Because on this trip, the plan is to fly as much as humanly possible. To say this will be the most fun 7 days of your life - is honestly an understatement. Training availability is upadated daily. Adventure Tour Outline: The main focus of this tour is two or more guided adventure flights a day for roughly 14 total flights over the seven days. Each flight will vary in distance, duration, and terrain. One day might take us over mountain valleys and dense forests and the next could lead us across wide-open desert and towering red-rock canyons. The goal is to give you a taste of the beauty Utah has to offer - from the sky. We’ll begin at our adventure from our local launch site near Salt Lake City, Utah. This will give everyone time to get a few warm up flights in, shake off some bad habits, and make sure equipment is operating exactly as it should. Then we’ll start our journey across Utah! We will begin by traveling to whichever location offers the best flying and move as much—or as little—as conditions require. If one area has better weather, we may stay for several days, and that’s no sacrifice because all of these locations offer dozens of different flights in every direction so there's plenty to see and do at every stop. When the opportunity is right, we may even launch in one location and land somewhere completely different. Our ground-support team will follow in the truck and trailer, helping us get back to the original launch area. That opens up a much bigger world of flying, exploring, and seeing Utah from angles most people never experience. And yes—it’s also a lot of fun! But this tour isn’t only about flying. You’ll also learn how we plan routes, evaluate terrain, and reduce engine-out risk before leaving the ground. After each flight, we’ll debrief the decisions that shaped it: the weather we encountered, the routes we chose, the areas we avoided, and why. Nothing is left to chance. Every flight is carefully planned around the conditions, the terrain, and the experience level of the group—so we can maximize the adventure while keeping risk as low as reasonably possible. Because the best flying isn’t reckless—it’s calculated, well-planned, and still gives you the kind of stories you’ll be telling for years. By the end our goal is that you had the most fun flight of your entire life, the second most fun flight of your entire life, and the third most fun flight of your entire life. Skills Training Along The Way: This tour isn’t designed as a formal skills-training course, and the main mission is daily guided adventure flights. But if there’s a particular skill you’ve been wanting help with—like energy management, launches, landings, ground-school concepts, motor maintenance, or something else—our team will be there to coach you along the way. You’ll have access to radio guidance during flights, along with practical instruction whenever the conditions and schedule allow. Think of it as adventure flying with coaching built in. We won’t interrupt the trip to turn it into a classroom, but we also won’t let a valuable learning opportunity pass you by. If there’s a skill you want to sharpen, tell us. When the right moment appears, we’ll be there to help you work on it. The priority is adventure but the bonus is leaving with better judgment, stronger skills, and more confidence in the air. Some things we can work during the tour: Planning & Prep - Prior to each adventure flight, we will sit down as a group and walk you step by step through our planning and preporation for the flight. This includes weather checks, engine out risk, recovery routes, supplies, fuel burn, and more. If you want to know more about planning and preparing for real world big flights, this is a great way to learn. Live In Flight Feedback - One of the best parts about having a guide through these flights is that you can get live feedback on the conditions, environment, and situation you find yourself in. During the flight the instructors are more than happy to share what they are seeing, experiencing, and thinking as they go throughout the flight. Nothing beats live in flight feedback. Flight Debrief - Another great tool for learning more is doing post flight debriefs. This can include reviewing the student launches and landings via video, walking through flight logs to see where and why we flew where we did, and more. Commonly we use this to help students further their understanding of wind and rotor. Catching Bad Habits - Throughout the 7-days our instrcutors will be keeping a close eye on you to see if there are any bad habits you've build or things you could use help on. These are often little things but can help you make big improvements as a pilot. Launching & Landing Cleanup - After each flight our instructors will review your launches and landings to see if there is anything you can do to clean up your technique. If possible, we try to film everyones launches and landings so you can review video if wanted. Energy Management - For some people building their energy management skills are important, and although this tour is not skills focused we will offer tips, tricks, and instruction as much as possible. For those looking for or ready for energy management we will be able to offer some guidance. Road Trip: To maximize our time in the air—and chase the best weather possible—we plan to road-trip from one flying location to the next depending on the weather. The daily plan is simple: fly in the mornings, travel in the afternoons, fly again in the evening, and camp overnight by a fire. Most travel days will be just a few hours, and if we find a place with calm winds, clear skies, and great flying, we won’t be in any hurry to leave. We may stay put for several days and make the most of it. We have a general route mapped out, but we don't have to follow it. Weather calls the shots, and if the best conditions are a few hours down the road, we’ll go find them. If they’re right where we are, we’ll stay. That flexibility is the whole point: less time sitting around waiting for the weather—and more time flying when the sky says go. Utah Terrain Diversity: One of the best parts of exploring Utah is the sheer variety of terrain in every direction. In the morning, we might fly over dense aspen forests alive with wildlife and by the evening we could be cruising past rugged red-rock cliffs glowing in the last light of day. And that variety gives us options—lots of them. Every LZ opens the door to a completely different landscape, with new places to explore and new views to chase. So no two flights will ever feel quite the same and that’s what keeps the tour fresh, fun, and full of surprises. The photos above were taken in locations you’ll likely fly with us during the tour. Logistics: The tour will start and end in a town called Tooele, Utah. This is roughly 30 minutes west of Salt Lake City and 20 minutes west of Salt Lake City International Airport. If you're flying in we recommend renting a car for the 7 days. It does not need to be an offroad car as every location we will visit is easily accessable. We do recommend getting a place to stay the Saturday Night before the tour starts and the saturday night the tour ends. If you're traveling in and planning to bring a camper or RV, you should have no problems accessing every location we plan to fly from. Please keep in mind we will be driving down dirt roads. We can assist in transporting equipment but we cannot assist in transporting you. Lodging / Camping: During the 7 days, we’ll move from one flying location to the next which means we don't know exactly where we’ll be every night—and you shouldn’t plan to book hotels or Airbnbs in advance. Some locations will have comfortable lodging nearby and others will be farther from town, where the best option is to sleep beneath the stars. So please come prepared to camp for a handful of nights throughout the tour, and keep in mind that’s not a drawback, it’s part of the adventure. We do understand camping is not everyones cup of tea, and if you're ok with driving for 1-2 hours in the morning to the flying site you'll have no issues finding nearby lodging. We've routed our furthest distance and it's around 1-1.5 hours. If you're up for waking up early and traveling to the LZ, you'll have access to a comfortable bed each night. There’s something special about finishing a flight, gathering around a fire, and spending the night in the middle of nowhere. We’ll also have ways to help keep your devices charged when we’re out in remote locations, so you can stay powered up. Our team will be prepared to assist in any way we can. Food: Throughout the tour we do recommend bringing snacks, and easy to make food. Our team plans to make breakfast and dinner as a group multiple times throughout the 7 days, but we recommend thinking of that as a bonus and to still plan food for yourselves. We will have more than enough access along to way to stores, restaurants, and gas stations to easily stay stocked up on supplies. We will also have coolers that can be used to help keep food cold if needed. Skill/Experience Requirements: To be completely transparent, this tour is not designed for brand-new pilots. Before joining us, you should have roughly 50 or more hours of flight time within the past one to two years—and you should be comfortable launching and landing on your own. We don't need exactly 50+ hours, that is just a rough ballpark number, but you need to be able to consistently and confidently handling light-wind mornings without needing someone to talk you through every step. Of course our team will be there to help you however we can, but this is an adventure tour, not a beginner course. We need every pilot to be self-sufficient on launch and landing so the group can keep moving safely and efficiently. If you can launch and land on your own, you'll fit right in! As for equipment, there are no specific glider requirements. Slow or fast, beginner-friendly or high-performance—your current wing is welcome. Please note that upon registration we will reach out to you to confirm that you're a good fit for this tour. Expectations: Setting expectations correctly from the start is important and as a company we value communication and transparency. That being said we want to make sure you’re fully aware of what this trip is going to look like to ensure we are all on the same page. Confusion, overpromising, or misunderstanding, can lead to disappointment which we want to avoid at all costs. Our goal with this trip is to truly emmerce ourselves into adventure, wherever that adventure takes us. Meaning on a day to day basis we are not sure where we are going to go, but we wake up every day with a mission of flying as much as possible in the coolest places possible. Consider this trip more like a road trip with a handful of your flying friends, exploring mountains, valleys, and beautiful terrain. Day to day itinerary will change, plans will change, locations will change, but our mission of having fun won’t. Please be prepared to travel/drive on a daily basis. We don't plan to drive any more than 4 hours a day but we want to be clear and upfront that you will be driving throughout the tour. This is actually by design, so we can explore more area, different terrain, and see more of what Utah has to offer. We do have a rough outline of the locations we would like to hit, the route we would like to take, and the structure we would like to follow for the 7 days. But as we all know, weather is in charge and we are prepared to shift around as needed. Please be prepared to camp for some of the nights during the 7 days. Most of the time we will be within 20-30 minutes of hotels, but there will be the ocational location that is further from town and will be easier to camp overnight. Our team is prepared for this and we have power to help you keep things charged up. Coffee in the morning is on us! Big picture with expectations: our team doesn't want to stress or worry that you're unhappy or uncomfortable moving around or camping for a few nights. For us that is how we are structuring the training and is part of the "Adventure" we are promising. We kindly ask you're ready to "go with the flow" and embrase the adventure as we really will explore some of the coolest terrain there is. Safety Procedures We Take: Safety isn’t just important to us, it’s everything to us. We don’t just “think” about it or talk about it, we’ve identified our biggest risk points and proactively take steps towards mitigating that risk as much as possible. Firstly, every pilot will be provided a 24 hour “big out kit” that you'll fly with for the entire trip. This kit is as light as possible but will include everything you'd need to comfortably handle yourself for 24-48 hours while recovery is underway. This inlcudes things like: food, water, lifestraw, tourniquet, medical supplies, space blanket, fire starter, radio, knife, etc. We've spared no expenses to ensure the equipment is ready to go. Secondly, a strict buddy system is in place for the entire trip. Meaning, every pilot will have a partner and it's of the upmost importance you're both monitoring each other during the flights. We've also got a flight lead in the front of the group and in the back, keeping tabs on everyone. Third, each and every route we fly is preplanned and discussed as a group. No pilot will blindly be flying without a understanding of the area and recovery routes. Flights revolve around driveable and walkable roads and trails to keep recovery as simple as possible. In addition to that, a step by step engine out procedure will be reviewed and discussed daily as a group. Our team has search and rescue equipment and vehicles dedicated to helping us get into harder locations in the off chance we need to. As much as we can stress it we take this very serious. You’re trusting our team to keep you safe and we don’t take that lightly. Required Equipment: Radio & helmet setup Reserve parachute Cold weather & warm weather gear Camping equipment (recommended) If you're renting equipment or don't have certain items please reach out as we are most likely able to help. Equipment Rentals: We do provide equipment rentals for students who are traveling in from far away! Our rental gear options for motors are: Macfly or PAP with a Moster 185 Plus or an Atom 80. If you're renting equipment we do have reserve parachute that will be installed. Motor rental is $100 per day (which includes oil and fuel). Adventure Training vs Tour: As you may know we used to host 5-day Adventure Training's in both Southern California and Utah. This 7-day Advneture Tour is designed to replace our Utah based adventure training but we will continue to offer our 5-day adventure trainings in Southern California. There are a few main differences between these two training/tours: The Adventure Training was largely focused on skills training, helping you become a better paramotor pilot with whatever it is that you needed help with. This commonly was launches, landings, and energy management. We took newer pilots who struggled, or who had not flown in a while get more confident. This Adventure Tour is now focused on guided adventure flights, not skills training. This is for slighly more experienced pilots who can consistently and confidently launch and land on their own. This tour is focused on guided adventure flights. Refund's & Rescheduling: One of our core values is being transparent with our students and customers, and refunds/rescheduling is one of the things we try to be very clear about. Here at Backcountry PPG, we do not offer refunds on any equipment or training purchases. We are a small business, and refunds can quickly put us in a difficult position, which we are not willing to do. We also want commitment from our students: meaning, if we offered refunds for our training, we would often encounter people who bounce back and forth, causing us headaches and financial losses due to credit card and refund fees. To avoid dealing with flaky students, we don’t offer refunds. We want to be fully transparent about this, and when you sign up, we want you to understand and be committed. That said, we fully understand the logistics of life and how unforeseen circumstances can arise, causing you to reschedule. We are always more than happy to reschedule you to any future class, at any time, with no questions asked—even if it’s years down the line. We will work with you to find a time that fits your schedule, as we understand how challenging it can be to get ten days off. The only request we have is that you give us as much notice as possible, so we have the opportunity to try and fill your spot.
