Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec designed Aim in 2010 as a quiet argument against the fixed, ceiling-centered pendant. The head pivots. The nine-metre cable allows suspension at virtually any height. Point it where the light is needed, then leave it alone. The body is varnished aluminium, compact and industrial in the best sense. A photo-etched polycarbonate shade diffuses the output while an internal ABS reflector directs it. The result is direct light with a sense of control that most pendants surrender to geometry. Aim is inherently relational. A single unit reads as a considered object. A cluster of three or five, hung from a multiple ceiling rose, becomes a composition. Each head can be oriented independently, addressing a dining surface, a reading chair, a counter edge. The configuration is yours to define and redefine.
