Spyderco’s popular Sage™ Series has traditionally expressed the same iconic design with different lock mechanisms, paying homage to the innovative designers who created them. The S age 5 Lightweight highlights Sal Glesser’s Compression Lock® in a user-oriented format that features a full-flat-ground CPM® S30V® blade, nested stainless steel liners, and lightweight, fiberglass-reinforced-nylon (FRN) scales. The injection molded scales include our signature Bi-Directional Texture™ pattern for an enhanced, non-slip grip and are home to a reversible deep-pocket wire clip that provides discreet tip-up carry on either side of the body. The new blue variant raises the bar even further by showcasing a blade crafted from our proprietary CPM® SPY27® steel. Developed in close cooperation with Crucible Industries, SPY27 supercharges the proven composition of VG-10 stainless steel with additional alloys and Crucible’s state-of-the-art particle metallurgy manufacturing process. The full-flat-ground blade of this knife is supported by a high-strength Compression Lock® mechanism and nested, skeletonized stainless steel liners housed within fiberglass-reinforced-nylon (FRN) scales. Consistent with the theme of our CPM SPY27 family, the scales are injection molded in a signature cobalt-blue color. Spyderco will donate approximately 5% of sales of the Sage line to the National Alzheimer's Association Denver, Colorado Chapter. The Alzheimer's Association is the leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer's care, support, and research. Their mission is to eliminate Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research, to provide and enhance care and support for all affected, and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health. Contributions to the Alzheimer's Association provide care and support to families in Colorado coping with Alzheimer's disease, as well as fund national programs and research to ultimately find a cure.
