Carimbó is a vibrant and rhythmic music genre that hails from the Brazilian state of Pará in the Amazon region. It's named after the large drum used, the 'curimbó,' an instrument integral to the genre's pulsating beats. With indigenous, African, and Iberian influences, carimbó blends spirited percussion with melodic instruments like flutes and guitars. The dance that accompanies it is equally lively, featuring swirling skirts and responsive movements. Artists such as Pinduca and Fafá de Belém have popularized carimbó, infusing traditional sounds with modern Brazilian music elements. Its festive nature and infectious rhythms make carimbó a cornerstone of Amazonian culture, celebrated in regional festivals and recognized as a symbol of national identity.
