Ce Persiano is closing The Uncommon Thread, so this is the last order we've placed with her. Fingering/sport weight · 220 yards · 70% silk, 30% merino A quick note on Cocoon: new import fees have made this yarn more expensive to bring in than it used to be — costs we absorbed as long as we could but couldn’t absorb entirely. We’re still thrilled to carry it, and The Uncommon Thread is still shipping to the US, but we wanted to be straight with you about why the price is higher than you might expect. Thank you for supporting small shops navigating big global shifts with as much grace (and goatiness) as possible. Cocoon is classified as fingering, but it’s so lofty and airy that it could easily work as sport — Melissa is planning to try it as a DK. The silk-merino blend gives it a soft sheen and a warmth that wraps around you. It’s the kind of yarn that makes you want to cast on immediately. The Uncommon Thread is a small artisan company based in Brighton, England. All yarns are hand-dyed in small batches, and they occasionally source unusual British breed yarns from small mills and small flocks — limited editions worth watching for.
