Changing Weather

The rain was still hours away - but you could feel it coming Late summer tipping into early autumn above the Broads. A big cloud has built and begun to darken at its edges, the lig ht shifting almost imperceptibly as the weather gathers itself. But the rain is still hours away - and in that interval, the landscape holds a particular tension, a charged stillness that is more interesting than either full sun or full storm. This is a painting about that moment - the kind that a painter notices. The sky is the subject here, vast and slowly turning, while the Broads below sit quiet and watchful beneath it.
