Editor-in-Chief® Levels 1–3 Editor-in-Chief® Levels 1–3 help students move beyond learning grammar rules and into applying them. Through engaging editing activities, students stren gthen their understanding of grammar, punctuation, spelling, capitalization, and usage by correcting mistakes within realistic passages rather than completing isolated exercises. Each lesson places students in the role of editor. As they work through stories, articles, letters, and other passages, they identify errors, make corrections directly in the text, and apply the rules they've learned in meaningful contexts. This practical approach helps students develop stronger proofreading habits and greater attention to detail. The series progresses gradually through the levels. Level 1 focuses on targeted editing tasks that emphasize individual skills, while Levels 2 and 3 introduce increasingly complex passages containing multiple types of errors. By the end of the series, students are evaluating longer passages and applying several editing skills simultaneously. Students quickly discover the difference between knowing a grammar rule and recognizing when it has been broken. The editing format requires careful reading, thoughtful analysis, and consistent application of language conventions—skills that transfer directly to their own writing. Each book includes a grammar and usage guide, an editing checklist, and complete answer keys. Some activities even challenge students to identify inconsistencies between illustrations and text, adding another layer of observation and critical thinking. For students who breeze through grammar worksheets but miss the same mistakes in their own writing, Editor-in-Chief® provides the kind of practice that helps editing skills finally stick. Show more
