The first oriental fragrance in history is called Shalimar. The bergamot, iris, and vanilla notes in the Eau de Parfum wake are distinctive. It blends skin-caressing sensuality wit h a tinge of the forbidden and makes a lasting impression. Shalimar, which in Sanskrit means "temple of love," represents the promise of everlasting love and was inspired by the intense love story between an Indian princess and an emperor. It has a scent of desire. At the Paris Decorative Arts Show in 1925, Raymond Guerlain's Shalimar bottle took home the top honor. The basins of the renowned Shalimar gardens served as inspiration for its curvature. The fan stopper's sapphire transparency brings to mind the garden's never-ending waterfall. Show more
