This atmospheric abstract painting from Bart O'Reilly's A Place in the Cold Dark Ground series invites quiet reflection on the themes of mortality, memory, and the passage of time. Layered with meditative hues and textured depth, the work embodies O'Reilly's practice of building each piece from the ground up—both literally and metaphorically. Drawing inspiration from his Irish childhood, the landscapes of his youth, and his passion for poetry, O'Reilly weaves past and present into a deeply resonant abstraction. The painting balances a sense of nostalgia with a contemporary meditation on family, loss, and longing, offering viewers a poignant connection to the universal rhythm of life. Show more
