CHILI PASTEHARISSANORTH AFRICAN Harissa Paste is the essential Tunisian chili paste of hot peppers, warm spices, and olive oil, stocked for restaurant kitchens, caterers and seriou s home cooks. Smoky, aromatic, and spicy, it's a condiment for meats and seafood, a swirl for hummus, couscous, and salads, and a flavorful rub or marinade for chicken, lamb, and roasted vegetables. Brand Specialty Food Source Product Harissa Paste Best For Marinades, rubs, hummus, couscous, roasted vegetables How chefs use harissa Harissa does the work of a chili, a spice blend and a fat all at once, so a spoonful seasons a whole pan. Rub it on lamb shoulder, chicken thighs or whole fish before roasting; stir it into the braising liquid for tagines and chickpea stews; loosen it with olive oil and lemon to dress couscous, grain bowls and roasted carrots; or swirl it through hummus, labneh and yogurt as a table condiment. It also lifts shakshuka, merguez-style sausage mixes and the mayonnaise for a lamb burger, and a little whisked into vinaigrette wakes up a plain green salad. Pairs well with Serve it alongside za'atar spice for a North African and Levantine pantry, and keep sambal oelek on hand when a dish wants clean chili heat without the cumin and coriander.
