Iris & Oak feels less like a shop and more like a living gallery of Stockholm’s creative community. Featuring the work of more than 26 local artists and makers, this woman-owned gallery celebrates craftsmanship with deep local roots—including beloved favorites like Stockholm Pottery and the historically rich Mississippi River Pearl Jewelry Co. Owner Katie is a second-generation shopkeeper in this very space, the daughter of a potter and a blacksmith who grew up surrounded by the artists she now proudly represents. After training and working as a registered nurse, she opened Iris & Oak in 2021 as a long-held dream and second career. As a lifelong resident of the Stockholm area, she brings an easy warmth and firsthand knowledge that customers immediately appreciate. Inside, the selection shifts constantly with the rhythms of handmade work—ceramics, jewelry, glass, blacksmith pieces, candles, lotions, soaps, woodworking, maple syrup, and books by local authors. Many visitors comment on how much they enjoy learning the stories behind what they’re buying. Conversations with the friendly staff often turn into impromptu introductions to the artists themselves, creating a shopping experience that feels personal and authentic. Outside, the building’s large wing mural—painted by Katie—has quietly become one of Stockholm’s favorite photo spots. Staff are always happy to help capture the moment. Insider secret: Katie has hidden her two sons’ names in the mural. See if you can find them. With its ethically sourced goods, deep ties to local makers, and ever-changing collection, Iris & Oak rewards repeat visits. If you see something you love, don’t wait—many pieces are one of a kind. And like the village itself, the shop invites you to linger, ask questions, and come back often.
