Overview Reference 2 Meta is the compact centre speaker in KEF's Reference series. KEF describes it as a centre speaker that can also be used as a left, centre or right (LCR) speaker. It is a three-way closed box design with a 12th generation Uni-Q driver array with Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT) between two 165 mm bass drivers. Hand-built by KEF in Maidstone, Kent, UK. KEF states that every pair is matched to within 0.5 dB of its laboratory-maintained reference standard. Drivers and Technology 12th generation Uni-Q driver array with a 25 mm aluminium dome tweeter and 125 mm aluminium cone midrange, with KEF's tangerine waveguide Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT) behind the tweeter, which KEF states absorbs 99% of the unwanted sound from the rear of the tweeter Midrange motor with a copper ring in the motor gap to reduce inductance, and a flexible decoupling chassis that isolates the Uni-Q array from the cabinet 165 mm (6.5 in.) aluminium cone bass drivers with a vented magnet assembly and large aluminium voice coil Shadow Flare front baffle surface designed to reduce cabinet diffraction around the Uni-Q array Cabinet shape and bracing designed with finite element analysis, with Constrained Layer Damping Closed box (sealed) cabinet Home Theatre Use Centre channel speaker that KEF also specifies for left, centre and right (LCR) use Shares the same Uni-Q with MAT driver array as the other Reference Meta models Reference Meta cloth grille set available separately Specifications Design Three-way closed box Drive units Uni-Q driver array: HF 25 mm (1 in.) aluminium dome with MAT, MF 125 mm (5 in.) aluminium cone.
