ABOUT Bezeled labradorite drop earrings that showcase the stone's signature flash — an iridescent play of peacock blue, green, and gold that appears and disappears as the stone mov es. This optical phenomenon, called labradorescence, is caused by light diffracting between internal layers within the feldspar crystal. Labradorite was first identified in 1770 on the coast of Labrador, Canada. It scores 6-6.5 on the Mohs scale and is a member of the plagioclase feldspar series.
