Menthone opens with immediate cool peppermint freshness that's sweeter and less harsh than pure menthol. Its diffusive character carries subtle floral undertones reminiscent of ger anium and rose. The woody-dry base emerges gradually, providing unexpected depth. You'll find menthone invaluable when building authentic peppermint accords or adding freshness to floral compositions without overwhelming them. It excels at trace levels in geranium and lavender where it provides lift whilst maintaining the delicate balance. Use it below 1% in non-mint fragrances to avoid dominating the composition with peppermint character. Combine menthone with geranium oil to enhance freshness or blend with lavender for aromatic complexity. Pair with rose absolute where its cooling effect modernises traditional florals. This ketone bridges mint top notes with floral hearts beautifully in eau de cologne structures. Menthone vs Menthol Menthone smells brighter and sweeter than menthol, with herbal-green facets rather than menthol's medicinal coldness. Where menthol hits hard with icy blast and camphoric sharpness, menthone offers gentle mint sweetness with floral compatibility. Choose menthone when you want mint freshness without the aggressive cooling punch, particularly in delicate florals where menthol would overpower. Show more
