The Michell TecnoWeight enhances the performance of Rega tonearms by optimizing mass distribution. Its design fundamentally improves tonal stability and resonance control. The Michell TecnoWeight uses a unique underslung design that repositions the counterweight along the same axis as the phono cartridge. This arrangement lowers the center of gravity of the tonearm, which increases stability by reducing the potential for adverse vibrations during playback. The materials used, heavy stainless steel and aluminum, contribute to a solid and inert mass, enhancing dampening qualities. Unlike traditional donut-style weights that can act as resonators, the TecnoWeight's integration with the tonearm structure means that it can effectively dissipate internal resonances and allows the cartridge to retrieve more detail from the vinyl. This results in a clearer, more accurate sound reproduction, exemplifying efficient energy transfer and vibration management in audio systems.Key Features Underslung Weight Design: Positions mass in line with the phono cartridge, lowering the center of gravity and enhancing stability. Dampening Internal Resonances: The solid construction helps mitigate unwanted vibrations within the tonearm, improving sound clarity and detail. Dual Weight Options: Comes with two weights to tailor the system according to cartridge requirements, optimizing tracking performance. Material Composition: Utilizes heavy stainless steel and aluminum for effective energy absorption and resonance management, ensuring a more faithful audio reproduction. Technical Specifications Compatibility: All Rega tonearms except RB100 series Material: Stainless steel and aluminum Weight Options: Two different sizes Type: Underslung counterweight system Suggested Retail Price (SRP): $219
