Mysoral means two things in perfumery today. The first is the classic base by Synarome (Mysoral Base 601651) built around an overdose of sandela, amyris wood oil and spices. The second is a Firmenich captive molecule 2-methyl-4-(2,2,3-trimethylcyclopent-3-en-1-yl)pent-4-enal (CAS 166432-53-7). Mysoral is the aldehyde counterpart of Firsantol but unlike the alcohol, Mysoral has a brighter and shaprer quality, pushing higher into the top notes. Mysoral also has pine, cedar and frankincense nuances lacking in Firsantol. Mysoral has gained attention of late due to its inclusion (in relatively high doses) in a number of Louis Vuitton fragrances, however it should be noted that it forms part of the popular Firmenich Dreamwood base (at around 0.5%) so traces may appear in GCMS analyses of fragrances incorporating that (alongside considerably larger quantities of santalols). Our Mysoralex base is intended as a direct 1 for 1 replacement for captive Mysoral in modern formulas, however it is a beautiful and radiant sandalwood base in its own right also. Mysoralex is particularly great at bridging sandalwood notes with cedar, pine, fir, frankincence, and pink pepper. It has a synergy with Firsantol and blends of the two are a real delight. Add a touch to your existing blends and watch the sandalwood dance!
