The Breiwick pattern was designed by Kirsten-Michele. Our sample was knit in Yummy 2-Ply. The main color is Blackwatch; the primary contrast colors (full skeins) are White Peppercorn and Cygnus, with smaller amounts (Yummy 2-Ply Toes) needed of Obsidian, Old Gold, Engraved, Antique Brass, Moss, and Pallon Beach. Breiwick is a top-down seamless yoke sweater that has been inspired by the stranded colorwork found in the southernmost tip of the Shetland Islands, Fair Isle. The motif follows the classic design principles of Fair Isle knitting, for example, there are never more than 2 colors worked in one round, and there are strong diagonals created by alternating X’s and O’s, called OXO’s. Breiwick reflects the trend found in the 1960’s and 70’s where the colorwork was worked in the yoke only. You'll need 3-5 skeins of Yummy 2-Ply in the main color, 1-2 skeins each of the contrasts, and 6 Toes to complete this project. Choose the original colorway below − or try another color combination! The Breiwick pattern is available on Ravelry. All patterns are sold separately and not included with the purchase of yarn.
