Heads up: I'm away until 22 October, so any orders placed before then will be packed and posted from 23 October. Thanks for your patience! The same raffia behind florence, lorna, doris and betty. Now flying solo. You've probably heard us bang on about it. The yarn we tuck into every bag kit - the one that turns first-time crocheters into cute little show-offs at brunch (and rightly so!). We're now selling it on its own. So you can practise, swatch, freestyle a coaster, restock for a second bag, or finally start that project you've been pinning since 2023 - without buying a whole new kit. It's smooth, structural, and holds its shape like a dream, which is why every Nana Sport bag has had it from day one. Our paper raffia is a premium, super-soft, sustainable paper yarn - made from wood fibre. Here's what makes it the one we keep coming back to: Biodegradable + vegan - kind to the planet, returns to soil Light + water-repellant - splash + dab, dry, as you were Smooth to work with - no fluff, no splitting, no fighting with your hook mid-row Holds its shape - your stitches stay put and your bag always looks gorgeous All-season yarn - not too warm, not too cool. The Goldilocks of yarns. (Okay fine, it's also very cool.) Beginner-friendly? Absolutely yes. And we'd argue more beginner-friendly than most yarns out there. Paper raffia doesn't unravel as you work, it holds its tension nicely, and it shows your stitches clearly - so you can easily see what you're doing. No squinting at fluffy wool trying to work out where your last loop went. What can you make with it? The honest answer: anything that wants a bit of structure and a beautiful natural texture. Bags - totes, clutches, crossbody, market bags, beach bags Baskets - plant pots, fruit bowls, catch-alls for the entryway Hats - light enough for Aussie summers Coasters + placemats - beginner gold, and an excellent gift If you can chain and double crochet, you can make most of the above. If you can't yet, you will after one of our beginner kits.
