The Waveshare 13658 is a curated hardware bundle centered around the Raspberry Pi Zero W. This kit is specifically designed to bypass the connectivity hurdles of the Zero's "Mini" and "Micro" ports, providing the essential adapters and headers required for immediate development and prototyping. Kit Components Raspberry Pi Zero W: 1GHz BCM2835 single-core processor with 512MB RAM and onboard 802.11 b/g/n WiFi / Bluetooth 4.1. Mini HDMI to HDMI Adapter: Allows connection to standard HDMI monitors and displays. Micro USB OTG Cable: Bridges the Micro USB data port to a standard USB-A female port for keyboards, mice, or USB hubs. 2x20 Male Pin Header: A standard 0.1" pitch header for the GPIO, allowing for HAT compatibility and breadboard jumper connections. 2x20 Female Pin Header: Provides flexibility for stacking or specialized mounting requirements. Technical Specifications (Board Level) Feature Details SoC Broadcom BCM2835 Clock Speed 1GHz Memory 512MB LPDDR2 Wireless 2.4GHz WiFi & Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) Video Output Mini HDMI (v1.3) USB I/O Micro-USB OTG (Data) + Micro-USB (Power) GPIO 40-pin unpopulated (Headers included in kit) Camera Port CSI (Requires Pi Zero specific adapter cable) Hardware Integration Notes OTG Functionality: The Micro USB port labeled "USB" supports On-The-Go (OTG), allowing the Zero W to act as either a USB host (for peripherals) or a USB gadget (appearing as a keyboard, mouse, or ethernet device to a PC). Header Installation: The included headers are unsoldered. This allows the maker to choose between top-mounting, bottom-mounting, or using the included female header for specific stacking heights. Power Requirements: Recommended 5V DC via Micro USB. For stable wireless performance and peripheral support, a supply capable of at least 2A is advised. Implementation Use-Cases Headless IoT Nodes: Small-footprint sensor arrays communicating via MQTT over WiFi. Portable Network Tools: Compact platforms for network auditing or specialized USB gadget emulation. Embedded Media: Driving small displays or e-paper modules for dashboards and status monitors.
