Heidi's Blaufränkisch hails from the estate’s oldest vineyard, which is located in the prestigeous site of Ried Kulm and was planted by Heidi’s three great-aunts in 1955. It offers a benchmark example of Burgenland’s signature variety. Fermentation occured with a small percentage of the berries being whole cluster. This is a bright and vibrant, juicy and spicy red. Heidi Schröck’s family has made wine in the Burgenland village of Rust for more than 300 years. After taking over from her father in 1983, she has propelled this 10-hectare estate to the forefront of Austrian winemaking, helping revive traditional varieties such as Furmint, which was once widely planted during the Austro-Hungarian Empire, but largely disappeared in Austria after World War I. Heidi was the first woman to qualify as a Master of Viticulture and Winemaking at the Weinbauschule Eisenstadt and Landwirtschaftskammer schools in Burgenland. In 2001, she also founded “11 Women & Their Wines” in 2001, an organization which has played a key role in promoting female winemakers in Austria, inspiring a generation of women to join the country’s wine future. A pioneer. A visionary. A phenomenal winemaker. 13.0% ABV
